The Township undertakes a number of initiatives throughout the year that may not fit seamlessly into the five goals of the Community Strategic Plan, still work towards guiding our community. These projects outlined below are additional initiatives that have been undertaken to shape South Stormont.

Foodcyler Pilot Project
  • An in-home food waste diversion unit was piloted in the community to obtain data that could identify cost-effective measures to reduce food waste, expand the life of our local landfills, and other environmental considerations. 
South Stormont Student Bursary Program
  • Three annual $1000 student bursaries were created to identify and assist South Stormont students entering post-secondary studies. 
Public Art Policy
  • Establish a standardized and transparent process through which the Township acquires public art for municipally-owned public space through purchase, commission or donation.
Community Risk Assessment and Fire Master Plan 
  • Identify, analyze, evaluate and prioritize risks to public safety to inform decisions about the provision of fire protection services.
