The Township of South Stormont’s municipal election is taking place on October 24, 2022. Due to the pandemic, the Township of South Stormont will be putting in place health and safety measures aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. Specific information about voting locations and advance polls will be made available as details are confirmed.

If you meet all of the following conditions, you are eligible to vote in the 2022 municipal election:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years old
  • a resident in the Township of South Stormont or a non-resident of South Stormont and you or your spouse own or rent property in the Township
  • not otherwise prohibited under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or by law

You can only vote once in the Township of South Stormont municipal election, regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Township.

 Voting Methods

The following voting methods will be used for the 2022 election:

  • In-person voting with vote tabulators (paper ballot voting)
  • Internet voting

 Voters' List

The Voters' List is a list of people who are eligible to vote in the 2022 municipal election.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) provides a list of electors to the Township of South Stormont. This list is used to prepare the Voters' List for the Township. If your name is on the Voters' List, you will receive a Voter Instruction Letter in the mail with the voting days and voting locations. Bring your voter letter with you when you vote to make your voting experience easier and quicker.

The Township will be sending out all Voter Instruction Letters to eligible voters in late September 2022. Information will be posted on the Township site for those eligible voters who do not receive their letter prior to election day.
